Tee to Green

TOURNAMENT TALES

Ortist Wells of Pitman Country Club finished second in the Philadelphia Section PGA Championship/CPC Qualifier at Spring-Ford CC in Royersford, Pa. Wells shot a final-round 67, but came up one stroke short of eventual champion Dave Roberts (Cedarbrook CC). Other local golfers finishing in the top 20 were John Appleget (Blue Heron Pines GC) finished third, Dave Quinn (Centerton GC) finished seventh, John DiMarco (Laurel Creek CC) finished 10th, Vince Ramagli (Burlington CC) finished 16th, and Mike Mack (Burlington CC), finished 20th.

Raymond Fuller of Pitman shot a 4-under-par 67 Wednesday at St. Davids GC to capture the first round of the Senior Amateur Championship in Wayne, Pa.

HOLES IN ONE

Harry Mullen of Clarksboro used a 4-iron on the 180-yard 13th hole at Westwood Golf Club. Walter Killen of West Deptford used a 5-iron on the par-3, 180- yard 13th hole Sept. 3 at Westwood Golf Club. Bill Abraham , 82, of Haddon Heights used a 8-iron on the par-3, fifth hole at Westwood Golf Club. Paul Hanstein of Blackwood used a 7-wood on the 188-yard 12th hole at Wedgwood Country Club.
