Tournament Tales

Tyler Rue of Hockessin, Del., carded a 76 for top honors in the Boys' 16-18 division during the Philadelphia Section PGA 2002 Junior Tour at the Wyncote Golf Club on Aug. 7. Paul Carpenter (77) of Landisville, Pa., edged Harry Buzhardt (77) of Somerdale for second place on a match of cards. Brian Creghan of Radnor, Pa., posted an 80 and edged Mike O'Keefe (80) of Medford for top honors in the Boys' 14-15 division. Albert DeColli of Washington Township carded a 72 for top honors in the Boys' 16-18 division during the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour at the Penn State University Blue Golf Course on Aug. 7

Victoria Arena of Lansdale, Pa., carded an 82 for top honors in the Girls' 13-18 division during the Philadelphia Section PGA 2002 Junior Tour at the Three Little Bakers Golf Club on Aug. 6. Soo Shin of Moorestown posted an 89 for third place. Joseph Yoo of Philadelphia carded a 78 for top honors in the Boys' 12-13 division during the Philadelphia Section PGA 2002 Junior Tour at the State College Elks Country Club on Aug 6. Matt Raudenbush of Pine Valley posted an 80 for a second-place finish. Jason Brown of Kingston, Pa., scored a 73 in the Boys' 16-18 division. Brian Zeiders of Sewell placed third with a 75.

The Pitman Golf Course team of Orist Wells, David Butler, Bill Green, David Rush and Barry Tuman carded a 21-under par 60-61-121 for top honors during the Philadelphia Section PGA 31st annual Woodcrest Invitational Pro-Am at the Woodcrest Country Club on Aug. 6. The Burlington Country Club team of Vince Ramagli, Sid Brown, Chuck Cahn, Mark Hershhorn and Peter Rosengard posted a 19-under 60-63-123 for third place. George Frake (36-35-71) of the Little Mill Country Club defeated Greg Farrow (36-35-71) of the Deerwood Country Club on the fourth playoff hole to win the individual pro purse.

John Goff (81) defeated Brett Dailey (81) on a one-hole playoff to win the 15-8 Male division of the Valleybrook Junior Tournament at Ron Jaworski's Valleybrook Golf Club on Aug. 7. Mark Edmondson took the 13-15 Male division with an 84. Andrew Pierson won the 11-12 Male division with a 66. Alex Pasley took the 8-10 Male division with a 40 (9 holes) and Amber Smith took the 8-10 Female division with a 47 (9 holes). Jan MacAvoy, Marilyn Aaron and Kellie Adamucci placed one, two, three, respectively, during he Buena Vista Country Club Women's Golf Association Throw Out Tournament on Aug. 6.

Harbor Pines Golf Club PGA professional Scott Dunn teamed with assistant Dave Bouer for an 8-under par 31-32-63 and top honors during the Philadelphia Section PGA Pro-Assistant Pro Championship at the Scotland Run Golf Club on Aug. 5. Carol Kane, Eleanor Leek and Diane Tamagni finished one, two, three, respectively, during the Buena Vista Country Club Women's Golf Association Blind Nine Tournament on July 23.

HOLES-IN-ONE

Harvey Rizen used a 5-iron on the par 3, 135 yard 7th hole at the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club East Course on Aug. 10.

Brenda Okamoto used a 4-iron on the par 3, 145-yard 17th hole at the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club East Course on Aug. 3.

Kevin Kenney of Boston used a 9-iron on the par 3, 144-yard 9th hole (Red Course) at the Ramblewood Country Club on July 31.

Kevin O'Donnell used a 9-iron on the par 3, 150-yard 7th hole at the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club West Course on July 8.
