Tournament Tales

Frank Berzanskis of Egg Harbor Township carded a 42 (9 holes) for top honors in the Boys' 10-11 and Girls' 10-12 combined age division during the Philadelphia Section PGA 2002 Junior Tour at the B.L. England Golf Course on June 18. B.J. Berzanskis posted a 47 for second place, followed by Kyle Raudenbush of Pine Valley with a 49. Matt Raudenbush of Pine Valley posted an 80 for third place in the Boys' 12-13 division. Tim Walling of Haverford, Pa., took top honors with a 76. Joe April of Sewell scored a 68 for second place in the Boys' 16-18 division. David Simmons of Wilmington, Del., carded a 63 for first place.

John Appleget of the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club carded a 71-72-143 for a three-way tie for second place during the Philadelphia Section PGA 26th annual Variety Club Tournament at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club (Lafayette, Pa.) on June 11-12. Jim Masserio of the Aronimink Golf Club took top honors with a 67-73-140.

  • Keith Conroy of Haddon Township used a 9-iron on the par-3, 140-yard third hole at the Pennsuaken Country Club on June 18.
  • Nancy Gallagher of Marlton used a 7-iron on the par-3, 113-yard 7th hole at the Green Tree Golf Course on June 8.
  • Robert Gamburg of Margate used a wedge on the par-3, 115-yard 11th hole at the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club West Course on June 8.
  • Michael Salamone of Smithville used a 6-iron on the par-3, 167-yard 13th hole at the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club East Course on May 30.
